How to Throw an Adult Halloween Party

October brings events galore! There’s your community pumpkin patch, the town Haunted House, your overly decorated neighbor’s house, and then there’s the mighty few who choose to host a Halloween party. If you are hosting this year, then check out our perfect how-to guide to throwing an epic adult Halloween party, from themes to costumes to snacks, and more!

Pick a Theme, Any Theme!

Make the whole night cohesive by giving your Halloween party a theme. In some cases, the theme can even be the main entertainment for the evening! Need ideas? We’ve got you covered:

Escape the Haunted House

The traditional haunted house, with a twist! Since escape rooms are becoming more popular, why not turn this trend into a theme?! Decorate your house with all things spooky and lay out clues in each room. Each group of guests must solve all the clues to escape the room and get to the rest of the party.

The Vintner’s Victim, a Murder Mystery Party

Murder mystery parties are already creepy, making them perfect for Halloween! Our preferred theme is The Vintner’s Victim (now say that 10 times fast!) Once all of your guests have arrived, assign each a role and give them clue cards to reveal who they are to other players. Once the guests have gotten to know each other’s characters, kill one off and leave it up to your guests to figure out who did it! They must use what they’ve learned about the other characters to get to the bottom of this murder mystery! Pro tip: if this sounds like too much work, there are tons of pre-planned murder mystery parties available online.

Zombie Apocalypse

Assign half your guests as zombies and the other half as human. The goal of the party is to convert all guests to one side or the other. As each guest enters the party, give them a plastic “blood vial” to keep visibly on their person at all times during the night. If someone from the other ‘team’ steals their blood vial, they become one of them!

Candy and Wine Pairings

Halloween and candy are two delicious peas in a pod. However, finding the perfect wine pairing to match your Halloween sweet tooth can be confusing. We’re here to help! Choose from the candies below to find your perfect Cupcake pairing! These pairings are so good you might as well share them with your party guests

Spooky Snacks for your Adult Halloween Party

With a party packed full of activities, your guests are bound to get hungry. Give them something to snack on with a spread of bone-chilling treats. Here are a few ideas to get the ball rolling:

Deviled Eggs

Pumpkin Shaped Cheese & Crackers

Form a round of cheese into the shape of a pumpkin. Serve with crackers and add a little Monster (Muenster) cheese on the side if you’re feeling extra festive. Simple, tasty, and brilliant!

Cara-spell Popcorn

Your usual caramel popcorn, just placed under a spell.

Deviled Spider Eggs

Deviled eggs decorated with black olive slices for a spider-y look!

Poison Apples & Caramel

Apples with a side of dipping caramel, or better yet – just caramel apples. Don’t forget to remind your guests that they may be poisonous…ly tasty!

Pumpkin Bacon Mac n’ Cheese

Not spooky, but spellbindingly delicious, this recipe is sure to be a scary good hit with all: pumpkin bacon mac n’ cheese.

Hanging Donuts (A.K.A. Donuts on a String Game)

Not only a fun game, but also a delicious mid-party snack! Tie donuts on a string and let guests compete…Whoever eats it the fastest (without using their hands) wins!

Serve a Cocktail, a Full Moon Cocktail

And where there’s food, there’s drink! Nothing gets the party started like a spooky cocktail. Treat your guests to this Full Moon Cocktail, a Halloween inspired drink that’s perfect for parties.
